Mildred was born on October 30, 1920 to Olga (Hagen) and Andrew Foss at Heimdal, ND. She attended elementary school in Heimdal and graduated from Grand Forks High School. On October 30, 1940, Mildred was united in marriage to Irving Clark in Heimdal. They made their home in Fessenden, ND where they raised their children, Cheryl and Neil. They were married for 64 years until Irving's death in 2005.
Mildred had many life-long friends from Fessenden with whom she enjoyed bridge and coffee parties. Together Mildred and Irving traveled, played cards and golfed with their friends. Mildred thoroughly relished her life as homemaker and in addition to raising her family, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning and keeping a pristine house! All who visited Mildred were well aware of her amazing cooking and baking skills. Some of her favorites included chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, Norwegian krumkake, pea salad, deviled eggs, Swiss steak, glorified rice and lemon pie. Coffee parties with Mildred always included a special homemade treat.
Mildred and Irving lived in Fessenden until 1996 before moving to Aberdeen to be closer to family. For 40 years they traveled to Mesa, AZ for the winter. They lived in Sunland Village where they were members of the Golf Club. During the last 15 years Mildred enjoyed frequent birthday and holiday parties with her beloved neighbors in Mesa who fondly called her Millie.
In her later years, Mildred had wonderful weekends during her SD summers spending family time at the lake cabin with her great-grandchildren, baking cookies, eating popsicles, playing games and watching them grow. Mildred was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fessenden, ND and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD.
Mildred is survived by her children Cheryl (Terry) Geisler of Aberdeen and Neil (Glenna) Clark of Mesa, AZ. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Kristi (Kevin) Holm of Brandon, SD, Nicole (Kevin) St. John of Plymouth, MN, Todd (Lindsey) Geisler of Aberdeen, SD, Aaron Clark of Mesa, AZ and Adam Clark of Mesa, AZ; as well as 4 great-grandchildren whom she adored, Allison and Nathan Holm and Matthew and Lauren St. John. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Irving; her parents and 7 siblings, Alice, Bernard, Helen, Gilma, Lila, Syvert and Odell.
Memorials in honor of Mildred may be sent to Sunshine Acres Children's Home, 3405 N. Higley Rd., Mesa, AZ 85215
