Nolan Seehafer, 85, Harvey, formerly of Drake, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at St. Aloisius Long Term Care in Harvey, ND.

Nolan was born on April 3, 1934 in Minot, ND to William and Viola (Pettersen) Seehafer. He spent his childhood on the family farm north of Drake, N.

Nolan was baptized on May 13, 1934 and confirmed on July 11, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Drake, ND. He attended country school north of Drake through 8th grade and graduated from Drake Public High School in 1952.

He worked on the family farm with his brothers and mother for several years before eventually becoming the manager at the Guthrie, ND elevator. He remained there until the family moved into Drake, when he began working as an independent insurance agent for 17 years in the Drake bank.

On June 28, 1959, he was united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church, north of Drake with Sharron Elaine Sitz. The marriage blessed them with four children: Nanette, Jeffrey, Steven, and Kevin.

Nolan was a loving husband and father for nearly 60 years. He loved to golf, sing, play softball, and woodworking. He also spent many years as the caretaker for the Drake City Cemetery and the Drake Golf Club. He was a jack of all trades and was always called upon to fix or build something. He was quick to help anybody and equally quick with a joke.

Nolan loved the visits by his grandchildren, always taking the time to teach them something. His lap was the favorite spot for each of the grandkids and he endlessly read stories to them when they were toddlers. He was forever described as a really nice guy. That legacy will live on through each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Nolan is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sharron of Harvey, ND; daughter, Nanette (Kevin) Peuser of Fargo, ND; sons: Jeff (Ardie) Seehafer of Winthrop, MN, Steve (Linda) Seehafer of Drake, ND and Kevin (Carolyn) Seehafer of Minot, ND; brother, Lyle (Ruth) Seehafer of St. Claire, MI; sisters Edie Lindberg of Detroit Lakes, MN and Ellie Pennell of Independence, MO; 9 grandchildren: Erika (Drew) Haataja, Barnesville, MN, Brant Peuser, Minneapolis, MN, Lucas (Aimie) Seehafer of Vadnais Heights, MN, Katelyn Seehafer of Park Rapids, MN, Nathan Seehafer of Winthrop, MN, Samantha Seehafer and Sydney Seehafer of Bismarck, ND, Megan (Dillon) Neuberger of Minot, ND and Macy Seehafer (fiance Nick Peterson) of Grand Forks, ND; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Paige Haataja of Barnesville, MN.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Seehafer; his mother, Viola Seehafer; his sister, Lovile Kirchner and his brother, Arlo Seehafer.

Visitation: Saturday, May 11 at Nelson Funeral Home in Drake from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.

Funeral: Sunday, May 12 at 2:00 P.M. First Lutheran Church in Harvey.

Burial: Drake City Cemetery in Drake, ND.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the First Lutheran Church in Harvey.
