Mandan formerly of rural Bowdon
Norman Wells Remboldt, 91, of Mandan, formerly of rural Bowdon, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Miller Pointe, Mandan, ND. His funeral will be held Friday, September 6, at 2:00 P.M. at Miller Pointe care center in Mandan. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Thursday at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fesssenden. Burial will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowdon Country Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery of rural Bowdon.
Norman was born near Bowdon ND on March 26, 1928 to Jake and Katherine (Becker) Remboldt. He attended country school in Progress Township south of Bowdon and graduated from Bowdon High School in 1946.
Norman married Florence Martin of Harvey, ND at Bowdon on November 28, 1948. They were married for 70 years and resided on a farm south of Bowdon.
Norman worked as a carpenter. He built many homes and buildings in central North Dakota up until he was 83 years old. He also farmed south of Bowdon.
He was known for his love of music, having played the trumpet since high school. He played trumpet with his daughters until he was 84. He enjoyed singing in men's quartets and singing duets with Florence.
Norman was an elder and chorister at the Bowdon Country Seventh-day Adventist church for many years. He was involved in church and community activities. He served as chairman of the Wells County Water Board, was a volunteer on the Bowdon Ambulance and served on the Progress Township Board.
Norman will be greatly missed by his wife Florence; his daughters: Candace (Valgene) Kreiter, Heaton, ND, Carmen (Dale) McManus, Carrington, ND, and Camie (Derrick) MacIntosh, Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren: Travis (Maria) Kreiter, Lincoln, NE, Nathan (Kristen) Kreiter, Bismarck ND, Mitchell (Martha) Hornung, Lincoln, NE, Caleb (Brandi) Hornung, Willmar, MN, Abigail and Allison MacIntosh, Omaha NE; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; brother-in-law Roland (Judy) Martin; sisters-in-law, Ruth Boyd and Carol Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Katherine and Jake; and siblings: Ed and Albert Heinle, Ann Heinle Unruh, Lydia Heinle Baltrusch, Elizabeth Wiebe Baltrusch, Ruth Remboldt Timothy and Elmer Remboldt.
