Olga Mae Fuhrman, 87, Bowdon and Fessenden, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Her funeral will be held Friday, Feb 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m at the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden with burial at the Hillside Cemetery of Fessenden. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Olga Mae Lund, daughter of Martin and Gertrude (Olson) Lund, was born September 21, 1927 on the family farm at Lunds Valley, ND, the eighth of ten children. She grew up in Lunds Valley where she graduated as valedictorian of her class at the age of 16. She then attended Minot State Teacher's College and received her teaching certificate at the age of 18. She taught at Blaisdell, ND , numerous country schools and at Heimdal, ND.
On June 18, 1950 she was united in marriage to Albert Wipf at Stanley. They made their home in Fessenden where they raised their two sons, Dennis and James. Albert died July 1978. Olga was employed at the Wells County ASCS office before her long time employment as Business Manager with the Fessenden Public School for 24 years.
Olga was married to Victor Fuhrman on June 15, 1990 in Fessenden and they made their home in Bowdon. He passed away August 25, 2003.Olga moved to Harvey in 2011 before entering the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in January of 2013.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and ladies circle of Fessenden and taught Sunday School until the 1990's. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Olga enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning and providing hospitality in her home with dignity and grace.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dennis & Colleen Wipf of Harvey and James Wipf of Fessenden; 3 grandchildren, Natasha (Dustin) Volochenko of Balfour, Jacenta (Brad) Fleckenstein of Bismarck and Elijah Wipf of Harvey; 7 great-grandchildren, Rihanna, Leah, Amyah, Lani, Drew, James and Remi; and one brother, Helmer of Stanley.
Olga was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert and Victor; her parents; 4 brothers, Emil, Ray, Harold & Mike; and 4 sisters, Betty, Ann, Alice and Inga.
