Olive Rodne, 97, Fargo, formerly of rural Manfred, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Villa Maria care center in Fargo. Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church in Harvey with burial at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Manfred. Visitation will be 2 hours before the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.
Olive Stenerson, daughter of Erick and Christina (Knutson) Stenerson, was born April 3, 1920 on the family farm near Dodge, ND where she grew up and received her early education. She graduated as salutatorian of the class of 1938. She graduated from Dickinson State College in 1946, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and a choral group. She began a teaching career in Dodge and Golden Valley and in country schools near Taylor and Hebron ND. In 1950 she attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis and graduated from LBI in Seattle.
On April 6, 1952, Olive was united in marriage to Berger Rodne at Seattle, WA. They made their home on the family farm north of Manfred, ND where they farmed until their retirement. In addition to helping with the farming operation and raising their four children, Olive was very involved in her husband's lay ministry through the years and hosted missionaries and evangelists and Bible studies in their home.
She was active in the Bethel Lutheran Church near the farm and later at Trinity Bethany in Harvey. She was involved in Christian Women's Club and enjoyed entertaining family and friends, baking, playing piano and guitar and singing duets with her husband or her daughter for church events. She enjoyed travels within the US and Alaska and trips to Norway. She and her husband were active exhibitors at the Hostfest in Minot for many years.
Following her husband's death in 2004, Olive moved to Harvey ND and enjoyed times with friends and family. In 2013 she moved to Fargo to live near family.
Olive is survived by her daughter, Karen (Gerry) Beutler of Fargo; her son, Otto Rodne of Minneapolis; 4 grandchildren, Joshua & Kelli Pallansch and Sheila & Shannon Beutler ; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Berger; sons, Mark and Paul; her parents; sister, Agnes Rodne and brother, Orville Stenerson.
