Paul 'Butch' Zuther, 78, Harvey, formerly of rural Martin, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, surrounded by his loving family. His funeral will be held Monday, September 7, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose with burial in the church cemetery. CDC recommendations including social distancing, hand sanitizing, wearing masks, and staying away if not feeling well are encouraged. Paul 'Butch' Zuther, son of Paul and Theresa (Hager) Zuther, was born January 31, 1942 at Harvey. He grew up on the Zuther family farm southwest of Martin and attended the Martin Public School, graduating in 1960. Butch began farming with his father at an early age and also worked for Soo Line Railroad from 1962 until 1985 as a Brakeman.
On July 11, 1969, Butch was united in marriage to Barbara Brown in Berthold. They made their home in Harvey until 1974 when they moved to the Zuther family farm. Butch continued to farm until 1997 and remained on the farm until he and Barb moved to Harvey in 2013.
Butch was a former member of St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose and later became a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union and a 55 year member of the Wells Aerie #3080 Fraternal Order of Eagles in Harvey.
Butch enjoyed fishing and playing Pinochle. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barb; his daughters, Rena (Jordan) Perdue of Ray and Holly Martin of Drake; his son, Waylon (Andrea) Zuther of Portage, WI; 8 grandchildren, Gage, Ty & Jace Nelson, Colton & Payton Martin and Aydan, Waylon II & Addison Zuther; and 3 great-grandchildren, Haley, Gabe & Logan Nelson.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Mary Ann & Anna Marie.
