Rachel Jorgensen, 92, Hurdsfield, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, November 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hursdsfield Community Center with burial at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hurdsfield. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the community center on Tuesday. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.
Rachel Laurel Larson, daughter of Lemuel and Rosalie (Bovia) Larson, was born July 22, 1922 on the family farm near Chaseley where she grew up and attended a nearby country school. During her early years, Rachel remained on the farm and helped her parents with the operation of the farm.
On October 30, 1947 Rachel was married to Hyna Brakel in Fessenden. They made their home and farmed south of Hurdsfield until 1982 when they retired and moved into Hurdsfield. Hyna passed away July 13, 1983. On November 15, 1984, Rachel was married to Nels Jorgensen at Harvey. They made their home in Hurdsfield. Nels passed away September 5, 1995 and Rachel continued to reside in Hurdsfield until recently entering the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Rachel is survived by stepson, David Jorgensen; step-daughter, Carol Morrow; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hyna and Nels; her parents; her sister, Marcella Hirchert; and two brothers, Ellsworth and Burl Larson.
