Ralph A. Edinger's Obituary
Ralph A. Edinger, 82, Fessenden, ND, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND. His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church South Campus in Harvey, ND with burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Ralph A. Edinger, son of Alvin and Emma (Fuhrman) Edinger, was born September 7, 1934 near Cathay, ND where he grew up and attended country school. In January of 1946 he moved with his family to Fessenden where he attended Fessenden High School, graduating in 1952.
Ralph began working at Solberg's Fairway Grocery Store in Fessenden at the age of eleven and a half and continued working there for 13 years.
In 1958, Ralph entered the United States Army and served his tour of duty in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in 1960, he returned to Fessenden and in 1961 Ralph began working as an insurance agent and purchased several insurance agencies in the Fessenden area.
On August 31, 1963, Ralph was united in marriage to Sue Anderson in Breckenridge, MN. They made their home in Fessenden and continued to operate Edinger Insurance. On April 1, 1999, after 38 years in the insurance business, Ralph and Sue retired and sold their business to Dave and Patty Feakes of Fessenden.
Ralph was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Fessenden from 1946 to the present. He served as Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Secretary, Church Usher, Men's Brotherhood Secretary, and Treasurer. He sang in the church choir from age thirteen until the choir was dissolved and was a member of the Men's Quartet for many years. He served on the Fessenden City Council and was a member of the Fessenden Civic & Commerce and Professional Insurance Agents Assn.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Sue; one niece and 3 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Murel.
