Roger Erfle, 79, of Bowdon, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Carrington Health Center in Carrington.
Roger Erfle, son of Dave and Lizzie (Roller) Erfle, was born May 9, 1937 at Carrington. He was raised in the Heaton area and began farming at an early age. He received his education at the Heaton Public School, graduating in 1956. On March 25, 1959 Roger was married to Shari Suckut at the Church of God in Bowdon where they made their home.
Roger owned and operated Roger's Bar and the local laundromat in Bowdon for 17 years. He remained active in farming and raising cattle and Thoroughbred horses throughout his life. Roger was passionate about his Thoroughbreds and horse racing, and was a firm believer that "There are more horses asses than there are horses".
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shari; daughter, Kelly (Mike) Fornshell of Billings, MT; 2 sons, Avery (Denise) of Bowdon and Mitchell (Wendy) of Scottsdale, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Eric (Leslie) & Ethan (Kenda) Fornshell, July, Jenece & Kori Erfle, and Amanda & David Erfle; 6 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Cecilia, Anabel & Adaline Fornshell, and Owen & Olivia Outcult; 1 sister, Ruth (Don) Jensen of Surprise, AZ; and 2 brothers, Dave of Bismarck and Art of Carrington.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Kay Olson; his parents; 2 sisters, Irene Hennecke and Martha Burkhardt; and 5 brothers, Nick, Lloyd, Elmer, Arnold 'Shorty', and Fritz.
Funeral: Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of God in Bowdon.
Visitation: Monday from 4 P. M. To 6 P. M. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Burial: Wayside Cemetery in Bowdon.
