Ruth Lorraine
Yecoshenko
Feb 6, 1928 — Jan 23, 2021
Butte
On January 23, 2021, at 12:50 P.M., Ruth Lorraine Yecoshenko was promoted by God to a higher position, to Heaven. Her time on this earth came to an end. She was 92 years old. A lifelong North Dakota native, Ruth was well loved in her small town of Butte, ND.
Ruth was born February 6, 1928 to Palap and Anna (Polishook) Nachetilo in Butte where she was raised. She was educated at the Butte Public School and obtained her teaching credentials from Minot State University. Ruth was an educator for over 38 years and taught in Kief schools, Byersville Rural School and the Butte Public School.
She loved children which was a large part of why she chose to become a teacher. Helping young people discover a passion for learning was her true job in life. Once you were her student you were always her student. Because of her amazing teaching career, she was awarded the honor of being listed in Who's Who in Education for the state of North Dakota.
On October 30, 1948, she married Melvin Yecoshenko of Butte. They made their home on the Yecoshenko homestead south of Butte for 63 years. On this homestead she hosted numerous dinners and socials for the Yecoshenko family. It was always a very special time and place.
Ruth was a longtime member of the Butte Assembly of God Church. For years she taught Sunday School classes and educated children on the love of Jesus Christ. Her life was always a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32, "And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you."
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Yecoshenko; her son, Robert "Bob" Yecoshenko; her parents and her siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean (Jim) Eidson, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating Ruth's life on Thursday morning, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Butte. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Butte Cemetery. CDC recommendations including social distancing, hand sanitizing, staying away if not feeling well and wearing a mask are encouraged. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Drake. Online condolences may be shared at nelsonfuneralhomesnd.com.
Thank You! There are not enough words to fully express my heartfelt thanks for the sympathy, love, uplifting comments about Mother, and support you have extended to our family during this time of loss.
Special thank you extended to my cousins, Doug Lien, Howard & Darlene Lien who stayed by my side for two days at the hospice facility. We had a wonderful time reminiscing and celebrating Mother's life. They were all strong pillars of support for me to lean on. Last, but definitely not least, God sent an angel, Sherry Manogue, to care for Mother until I arrived. God bless His angel.
