Sharon Jean Oster, 69, Velva, formerly of Drake, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements with Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.

Sharon Jean Oster, daughter of Leonard and Adella (Breckel) Oster, was born July 24, 1947 at Harvey. She grew up on the family farm south of Drake and attended Drake Public School, graduating in 1966.

Sharon moved to California in the late 1960s and was employed as an assembly line worker with Caterpillar Company for a number of years. She then moved to Omaha, NE where she worked as a waitress for several years before returning to Drake in the early 1990's. In addition to helping with the care of her parents, Sharon worked at the Cenex Convenience Store in Velva, the Larriet in Velva and the Artos in Harvey for a time.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Martinez of Kalsipell, MT; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her sister, Shirley (Dwayne) Blumhagen of Drake and her brother, Sheldon (Lisa) Oster of Drake.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.
