Shirley Fern Gallagher, 77, of Fessenden, ND passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at the St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Shirley Fern Pechia was born June 7, 1942 to Jennie Riebhoff in Detroit Lakes, MN. This is where she spent her childhood and received her education.

Shirley was united in marriage to Jerome Gallagher on February 17, 1962 in Detroit Lakes. They resided there and Oregon briefly before moving to Bremen in 1964.  In the late 1960's they settled in Fessenden.

Shirley spent her life serving others, and especially her family. She spent most of her life as a waitress in a variety of establishments in Fessenden. Later, Shirley worked a few years at the school cafeteria, and loved being around the children. She also volunteered at the local thrift store.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Allen Gallagher of Fessenden and Steve (Nancy) Gallagher of Bottineau, ND; 2 grandchildren, Riley (Lyvia Roark) and Courtney; great-grandson, Easton Gallagher; siblings, Joyce Young, Sharon Frey and Donnie Pechia; sisters-in-law, Terry Perkins and Marie Johnson; brother-in-law, Thomas Omoth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome, parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation:  Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a 7:00 PM Prayer Service.

Funeral Service:  Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden with Rev. Pauline Crowder officiating.

Burial: Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden.
