Obituary

Stanley R. Zeien, 69, rural Fessenden, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his home.

Stanley Russell Zeien, son of William and Betty (Stark) Zeien, was born November 13, 1947 at Maddock. He grew up on the family farm south of Hamberg and attended a nearby country school through the sixth grade. He then enrolled at the Fessenden Public School, graduating in 1965.

Stanley lived in Seattle for a time where he worked for Boeing Company. In March of 1968 he entered the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam war as a communications specialist. Following his honorable discharge, he drove truck for Clark Trucking of Carrington and later worked as a metal shearer operator for a manufacturing company in San Jose, CA. He then trucked out of California and Nebraska until 1989 when he returned to the family farm where he had resided since.

Stanley was a lifelong member of the Concordia Lutheran Church of rural Fessenden. He truly appreciated his good friends who were like family and were so willing to help him out when needed.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Zeien of Harvey; 3 brothers, Virgil (Kathy) of Ramsey, MN, Paul (Audrey) of Selz and Jonathan (Stephanie) of Horace; 1 sister, Karen (Randy) Striefel of Anamoose; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his many dear friends.

Stanley was preceded in death by his father, William.

Funeral: Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00 p. m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church of rural Fessenden.
Visitation: Friday from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Burial: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery.
