Theodore (Ted) Daniel Klein was born February 4, 1931 to John S. and Margaret (Lemer) Klein on the family farm in rural Karlsruhe, ND. Ted was the eleventh of seventeen children.

Ted enlisted into the Marine Corps. February 14, 1952 at the age of 21. He was stationed near Bremerton, WA and served as military police for two years during the Korean War. He was discharged February 14, 1954 and returned to the family farm.

Ted married Mary Anna Burckhard on October 21, 1958 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Towner, ND.  They made their home on the family farm in rural Karlsruhe and raised their 11 children there.  They often entertained extended family at the farm (cousin time).  These gatherings always included a wonderful meal and much laughter.  Nieces and nephews enjoyed visiting the farm because there were kittens, piglets, chicks and bottle-fed calves to play with, as well as, horses to ride.  Wedding dances were a favorite outing for the family and Ted, being an incredible dancer, taught his children how to polka, waltz and two-step.

Ted especially enjoyed working with and riding horses.  He loved to visit and easily struck up conversations with anyone anywhere - he never knew a stranger.

After Ted left the family farm, he lived in Karlsruhe for a few years before moving to the Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND where his brother Sebastian was also living.  He quickly turned more strangers into friends. In 2016, he returned to the Minot area due to health care needs.

Ted found peace prior to becoming ill. Several weeks before becoming ill, he said that Fr. Zimmerman came to him (in several dreams) and told him that he was going to show him the path home. In his hospital room, Ted was surrounded by the love of his children.  While the children were visiting with him in his hospital room about life's struggles and accomplishments, he said, "There is only Love."

Ted is survived by Mary Anna Klein, Minot, ND; and his children: Anthony (Sheila) Klein, Minot, ND; Keith (Tania) Klein, Williston, ND; Annette (Jon) Brewer, Karlsruhe, ND; Kevin (Lynn) Klein, Velva, ND; Judith (Mike) Bickel, Auxvasse, MO; Cordell (Jeannine) Klein, Gillette, WY; Stephanie (Rob) Hovland, Rugby, ND; Richard Klein, Manhattan, NY; Theodora Klein, Tampa, FL; Travis (Sharon) Klein, Garrison, ND; & Lenell (Nate) Jepsen, Bowbells, ND plus 18 grand-children and 17 great-grandchildren.
