Tresa Elizabeth Usselman, 55, rural Balfour, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at her home near Balfour.
Tresa Elizabeth Payer, daughter of Ernest and Nora (Swain) Payer, was born August 3, 1960 at Pierre, SD. She lived in Fort Pierre, SD for a short time before moving with her family to Rolla, ND. Later, the family also lived in Douglas and Belcourt.
On April 7, 1980 she was married to Charles Usselman in Minot. They lived in Minot until 1986 when Charles entered the United States Navy. Throughout the following ten years, depending on where Charles was stationed, they lived primarily in California and Illinois. Following Charles's discharge in 1996, they moved to the Usselman family farm near Balfour, where they have resided since.
Tresa's greatest love was spending time with her family. She enjoyed barbecues and celebrating holidays at the family farm with her husband, her children and their extended families, and especially her grandchildren. It was during these times that Tresa would often bake cookies and make candy with her grandchildren. She spent many hours canning produce which she and Charles grew in their garden, and when they weren't tending to things around the farm, they often found time to go fishing, attend rummage sales and make an occasional trip to the casino. Tresa also enjoyed crocheting and cooking, and was an avid collector of items such as cookbooks, knick-knacks, Old Country Rose china, tea cups and saucers with spoons.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Sonya Usselman of Drake; son, Michael (fiancee- Tanya Tipler) Usselman of Mandan; 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Jacob and Ella; 2 sisters, Brenda (Cornell) Jackson of Springbrook, MO and Sheila Payer of Minot; and 2 brothers, Terry Payer of St. John and Ernest Payer of Hebron.
Tresa was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lorna and brother, Jon.
