Vera Myron Risovi, 98, of Harvey, ND passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 at her home under the care of hospice.  Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 AM Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Harvey Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Shirley Teske officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2024 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.  Burial will be at 1:00 PM following the service at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.

Vera was born April 18, 1926 to Andrew and Emma (Erickson) Simonson near Bremen, ND.  She was raised on farms near Bremen, Sheyenne and later Hamberg.  She was educated in Sheyenne until the eighth grade, leaving school to help her family with farm and chore work.   Vera was united in marriage to Frank Risovi on January 22, 1946 in Fessenden.  To this union, the couple welcomed nine children, Michael, Emilie, Beverly, Paulette, Iris, Marilyn, Rita, June and Lisa.

Vera was employed at the Maddock Hospital from 1962 to 1974, at Berg's in Harvey and with Harvey St. Aloisius Nursing Home from 1982 to August 4, 2013, when she retired at the age of 87.  She was a member of the Hoff Lutheran Church, the Hoff Lutheran Ladies Aid, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Harvey Eagles Auxiliary.  Vera was famous for her doughnuts and caramel cakes.  She enjoyed taking walks and playing Rummy and other card games with family and friends, but her true passion was BINGO.  Vera also wrote local news articles for Heimdal news for three different newspaper publications, Fessenden, Harvey and Maddock.  Vera will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Vera is survived by her son, Michael (Carol) Risovi; eight daughters, Emilie Heinle, Beverly (Edward) Rekkedal, Paulette Dale, Iris Wetsch, Marilyn Schmidt, Rita (Greg) Seidel, June Schauer and Lisa Risovi; 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Risovi; parents, Andrew and Emma Simonson; siblings, Edgar Simonson, Myrtle Bergrud, Laurence Simonson, Alvin Simonson, Blenda Nyhusmoen, Edna Hanson, Viola Erdelbrock and Norton Simonson; great-grandchild, Joey Bauer; sons-in-law, Harold Heinle and Stan Schauer Sr.
