Vernon Kolschefski, 83, rural Butte, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at his home southeast of Butte.
Vernon Kolschefski, son of Ruben and Magdalena (Kandt) Kolschefski, was born December 24, 1931 at Anamoose. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Butte and received his education in a nearby country school. Vernon began farming with his father at an early age.
On July 17, 1955 Vernon was married to Geraldine Plesuk at the Rosenfeld Baptist Church of rural Drake. They made their home on the Kolschefski farm where Vernon continued to farm and ranch with his father, later taking over the family farming operation. Following his retirement, he remained active on the farm, helping out when needed.
Vernon's life was dedicated to serving the Lord. He was a member and deacon of the Rosenfeld Baptist Church of rural Drake where he also served as Sunday school teacher and treasurer for a number of years. He later became a member of the United Community Baptist Church of Anamoose where he also served as deacon. He loved spending time with family, especially at Christmas and birthdays. Vernon also served on the Dogden Township Board as assessor and treasurer for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine; 3 sons, Alvern (Pam) of Minot, Dean (Julie) of rural Drake and Leon (Sheila) of rural Butte; 10 grandchildren, Kayda (Trent) Albert, Megan( John) Schauf, David (BreeAnn) Kolschefski, Linnea (Brady) Lemer, James, Luke & Daniel Kolschefski and Bethany, Emily& Matthew Kolschefski; 6 great-grandchildren, Raegan & Taryn Albert, Louis & Julia Lemer, Cooper Kolschefski and Israella Schauf; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Paul & Mary Plesuk.
Funeral: Monday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Community Baptist Church in Anamoose.
Burial: Rosenfeld Baptist Cemetery of rural Drake
Visitation: Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home in Drake
