Obituary

Victoria Jean "Vicky" Crisman, 70, Velva, formerly of Balfour and Minot, died Saturday , May 16, 2015 at the Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Vicky Mergel, daughter of Defon and Kaia (Larsen) Mergel, was born Dec. 27, 1944, at Anamoose. The family lived in several communities including Anamoose, Epping and Blaisdell. Vicky graduated from Palermo High School in 1964.
She married Larry Helm in 1964. They lived in Harvey and later in Minnesota . At Harvey, she began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later became a Med Aide. Larry died 1980. In 1985, Vicky married Richard Crisman. They lived at Minot and Balfour prior to his death in 1996. Vicky continued to make her home in Balfour, later moving to Minot and then to Velva in 2010. In addition to cooking at Minot cafes, she worked at Harvey and Velva nursing homes and Edgewood Vista in Minot prior to retiring in 2009.
Her survivors include sisters Romona Weninger, Arcola, Sask., Carol (Jerry) Olson, Minot and Alice Alme, St. Paul, MN; brother Alan Mergel, Roseburg ,OR; brothers-in-law, Conrad Bachmeier of Roseburg, OR and Harland Hayes of Minot; sister-in-law, Cherie Mergel of Minot; and a number of nieces and nephews, including special nephew Matthew Maufort of Rapid City, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Calvin Mergel, Ruby Mergel, Margaret Budeau, Lloyd Mergel, Darlene Hayes, Twila Bachmeier, Fred Mergel and June Baragry.
FUNERAL: Wednesday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home chapel, Drake, with burial at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Harvey . There will be no viewal but those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Tuesday, May 19 from 2 pm until 5 pm at the funeral home.
