Obituary

Wayne A. Rieniets, 92, of Drake, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at an assisted living facility in Minot.

Wayne August Rieniets, son of Fred and Ella (Behr) Rienets, was born April 21, 1921 at Amenia, ND. He grew up in the Cass County communities of Amenia, Arthur, where he received his education, and Casselton.

In 1940 he entered the United States Navy and served his country overseas during WWII. In 1941 he was married to Betty Fitzpatrick. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, Wayne enrolled in a diesel mechanic school in Cleveland, Ohio. They made their home in Akron, Ohio until 1953, when they moved to Drake where Wayne began working for his father's cattle trucking business. He later took over the trucking business and continued trucking cattle and grain until the mid 1980's. During his truck driving career, Wayne drove over 3 million miles.

Betty passed away July 3, 2008.

Following his retirement, Wayne spent much of his time at Lake Sakakawea doing what he enjoyed most, fishing.

He served on the Drake City Council for 30 years and was a member of the David D. Nehrenberg American Legion Post #32 of Drake.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Zondra Issak; his parents; 3 brothers, Melvin, Larry & Kenneth and 2 sisters, Lois McAllister and Leona Richards.

He is survived by 4 grandchildren, Wesley Michael Isaak, Shannon Rae Isaak, Chad Wayne Isaak and Jeffrey Le Isaak; 2 great-grandsons, Zachary Le Isaak and Matthew John Isaak; 1 brother, Alfred of Moorhead, MN; and 4 sisters, Eleanor March, Mildred Paulus and Marjorie Beecher, all of Fargo, and Gloria (Reuben) Ulrich of Sun City West, AZ.

Funeral: Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Drake.
Burial at the church cemetery.
