Obituary

Wesley W. Buechler, 95, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Carrington and rural Cathay, enthusiastically entered his eternal home on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his daughter's home in Kansas City.

Wesley Wallace Buechler, son of George and Bertha (Rudel) Buechler, was born November 11, 1923 in New Rockford, ND. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Bremen and attended school through the eighth grade in Bremen. He then transferred to New Rockford High School where he was active in football and was the president of his graduating class of 1941.

Wesley began farming with his father at an early age and, following his father's death, took over the family farm. He was a man of the land and highly valued his role of being a good steward taking great pride in providing food for the masses.

On April 9, 1953, Wesley was united in marriage to Sharon Meland in Fessenden. They made their home on the Buechler farm where Wesley farmed until his retirement. They were blessed with five children, three girls and two boys whom they raised on the farm. The tragic loss of both of his sons in their youth deepened his faith and revealed his conviction that they would be reunited again. Sharon passed away on December 22, 2001. On December 27, 2002 Wesley married Sue Goheen in Carrington where they made their home. Following Sue's death in July of 2015, Wesley moved to Kansas City, MO to be closer to family.

Wesley was a former member of the Germantown Baptist Church of the Germantown community in Wells County until its closure, the First Baptist Church of Fessenden until 2002, and the Calvary Baptist Church of Carrington. His love for God led him to serve as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and a long time Gideon. He loved music, joyfully singing and playing the piano and harmonica right up to his passing. His wisdom, kindness, humor, and unending devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family leaves a legacy for all who know him.

He is survived by his daughters, Marcy (Gerry) Henges of Kansas City, MO, Laurel (Bill) Garlow of Shawnee, KS and Melanie (Thom) Nees of Wenatchee, WA;
